The expected benefits and exploitation of the results of “ECOeDNA” are:
- Application of new eDNA techniques that allow the rapid assessment of fish stocks and bacterial biocommunities with reliability, massiveness and low cost.
- The data will be able to allow the development of a new management strategy for fishing effort and sustainable management of stocks.
- Creation of a biobank.
- The new infrastructure and techniques that will be developed will allow the study and monitoring of a large number of species, which will allow us to better understand biodiversity and species abundance and at the same time assess the state of the marine ecosystem.
- Assessment of species abundance at a lower cost for many species.
- Assessment of the impacts of environmental and anthropogenic pressures as well as climate change.
